Purpose: The study was conducted to develop an Evidence-Based Practice(EBP) education program for military nurse officers and to examine its effects on knowledge, attitudes, usage, and self-efficacy of EBP.
Methods: The program was developed with focus on 5 stages of EBP process. A pretest-posttest study was conducted with 35 nurse officers working at a military hospital. Thirty five participants completed the questionnaires in four intervals; Time 1 (a week before the program), Time 2 (a week after the program), Time 3 (four weeks after the program), and Time 4 (eight weeks after the program). The data were analyzed with SPSS program.
Results: The program consisted of 8 hours of lectures, group exercises, and discussions. The level of EBP knowledge (t=6.801, p<.001), attitude (t=15.571, p<.001), usage (t=5.615, p<.001), and self-efficacy (t=5.258, p<.001) increased significantly after the program, respectively. The effects of EBP on knowledge, attitude, usage, and self-efficacy maintained at Time 2, Time 3, and Time 4.
Conclusion: The result suggest that the EBP education program is effective on knowledge, attitude, usage, and self-efficacy of EBP among military nurse officers.
